VisionWest Community Trust

The VisionWest Community Trust (was the Friendship Centre Trust) has been impacting the lives of people in Waitakere City since 1988 when it was started in response to a growing desire from GEBC to be involved in helping those in need in the local community. The beginnings were small, starting with a drop-in centre at the local railway station. Funds were raised by a group of committed people to start the Kingdom Fund (interest free loans to people in need) and other programmes emerged based on the needs within the local community.

Each year over 6000 lives are touched by the work of the over 350 staff and 100 volunteers. The Trust has a reputation in New Zealand for being a leader in innovative and holistic community services. Even though the Trust has grown to be one of the largest community development and social service organisations in Auckland, the heart, vision and passion of the original mission - to support individuals and families in need, is still pivotal to the work of the Trust. Each of the Trust's services work together to provide the best care, information and support for clients, staff and volunteers.
